'Trainer Battle' contains numerous references to the Pokémon series by Nintendo:
- The intro is based on the melody played during the eponymous sequence.
- The artwork contains a Pokéball, an item from the series.
- The outro is based on the melody that plays when the player wins a battle.
- The term "trainer battle" means when two Pokémon trainers from the game battle each other with their acquired Pokémon.
