Tamagato is a free-to-play game created for Monstercat, JP Spanbauer, Fire Burns Up, and Alex Odden of Pegboard Nerds. [1] It was revealed on April 1, 2023 and is available to play here on desktop and mobile.
Gameplay[]
Tamagato is based on the Japanese digital pet game Tamagotchi. Upon starting the game, a cutscene plays, introducing Monstercat as a creature that arrived from outer space via his UFO.
Monstercat then shows up as a digital pet. Players have 5 available interactions with Monstercat: Feed, Play, Washroom, PredictBot and Music. Over time, a thought bubble will show up next to Monstercat, indicating which interaction he wants you to do. Successfully interacting with Monstercat will earn the player half a heart of affection. With each full heart of affection gained, a new 8-bit mix of a Monstercat song is unlocked, which can be played via the Music interaction. When all 4 hearts of affection are filled, the game is won.
Progress on the game is not saved on the webpage; leaving or refreshing the page will result in your progress becoming reset.
Interactions[]
- Feed: Players can choose to feed Monstercat pizza or sushi. Monstercat dislikes pizza, and choosing this option will always result in Monstercat becoming upset.
- Play: Players can choose to take Monstercat out on a bike ride or go rock climbing. Monstercat dislikes the bike ride, and choosing this option will always result in Monstercat becoming upset.
- Washroom: Players can choose to clean up the mess Monstercat makes or to leave it alone. Choosing to leave it alone will always result in Monstercat becoming upset.
- PredictBot: Players can choose to have Monstercat and PredictBot fight or hang out. Monstercat dislikes fighting with PredictBot, and choosing this option will always result in Monstercat becoming upset.
- Music: Players can replay any of the songs they have unlocked during their playthrough.
