On COTW 368, Ehiorobo mentioned he began experimenting in writing pop songs years ago. In 2019, Icarus Moth and Deffie were sessioning in Los Angeles. Ehiorobo sent them different vocal ideas and the decision to work on Slow Truth began. The lyrics are inspired about telling someone the bad news about the situation while encouraging them not to let it harsh their mellow.
