Nu-disco is a 21st-century dance music genre associated with a renewed interest in 1970s and early 1980s disco, early to mid-1980s Italo disco and boogie, and the synthesizer-heavy Euro disco and P-Funk aesthetics. Characteristics of this genre are a heavy emphasis on rhythm (mainly through bass support guitars, sometimes playing 16th note strums / plucks and other times more intricate patterns - like complex arpeggiating), a steady 4otf (four-on-the-floor) drum pattern, sometimes house-styled with kicks and kick - clap layering, melodic / bass synths built from analog waveshapes (such as the sawtooth, square, triangle or sine waves) modulated through simple filtering, the use of swing and triplet grooves, shuffling, bells or bell melodies inspired by analog synthesizers, the use of pitch-bends, phaser and flanger effects, the employment of off-beat notes, funky vocal chops / sample chops, laidback, refreshing vocals occasionally reinforced by falsetto harmonies and vocoded / "talkbox" or bitcrush / bit-reduction effect impacted. Vintage gentle tape saturation distortion can also be heard (for added "warmth" - a.k.a. the introduction of new harmonics and emphasis of existing ones). The tempos usually reside around 100 bpm, but can reach higher, such as in the case of Televisor - "Automagic" - 125 bpm
