I really have put my all into this, it contains every genre and trope that I love from progressive metal to textural sound design, and combines it all into a non-linear, yet circular piece of work that flows from song one all the way to the end, and back again. I'm extremely proud of it, but also feeling a bit vulnerable sharing all my demons. But it's alright, because by turning them into art, they become beautiful. And that to me, is how one should deal with the downfalls in life.

– Varien via a Facebook post[1]

My Prayers Have Become Ghosts is an extended play by American producer Varien. It was released on October 31, 2016.

BackgroundEdit

Varien released the title track of the EP via SoundCloud on August 4, 2016,[2] adding that if fans liked "this neuro industrial progressive rock kind of stuff, [they're] in for a serious treat this and next year."[3] One week later, he posted an announcement about the EP via Facebook; via the post, he called it something he had "never done before" and stated: "See, I always write stories about other people, usually in universes far, far away... from me. This is the first EP that I am taking myself, my deep secrets, my demons, my insecurities, and manifesting them into tangible art."[1]

The release date and cover art for the EP were revealed on October 2, 2016.[4]
