Alone's music video is currently the most viewed upload on the Monstercat Uncaged YouTube channel, having over 168 million views as of July 2024, surpassing classics such as Disconnected, Surface, and Flight. It is currently the second most viewed video across all three Monstercat channels, having been surpassed by Crab Rave in October 2021. The video was also the most liked video on all three YouTube channels, until 2019 when Crab Rave surpassed it. The upload of the music video on Marshmello's YouTube channel is more popular, having reached more than 1 billion views near the end of 2018. Due to Marshmello's mainstream status, this song has introduced a fair amount of listeners around the world to Monstercat, a big help for the label. It is also the first and only Monstercat song to be certified Platinum by the RIAA.
In June 2016, it was announced that there would be a remix contest for Alone, and that the winner would have their remix released by Monstercat. On July 8th, it was announced that the future house duo MRVLZ had won the contest. The remix package, featuring their remix, plus others from Slushii, Getter, Streex, Diskord and LUCA LUSH, was released on August 25, 2016.
Alone was still relevant when Alan Walker released his single "Alone" on December 1, 2016. Social media and YouTube exploded with videos and arguments seeing which was the "better Alone", prolonging the life of Marshmello’s song.
Marshmello is the vocalist, with his voice pitched higher.
Alone was certified Platinum in the United States in October 2017, and in Canada in April 2018.
This is featured as one of the Fifty Most Played soundtracks on Netease Music during Monstercat's 100-thousand-fans celebration.
This song was featured on Rolling Sky as part of the EDM Collection Pack in January 2019 but was removed one year later.
